11/17-09 Photosynthesis & Respiration

We began notes on photosynthesis & respiration. The textbook materials can be found here.
We began a poster activity for photosynthesis & respiration.

Coming up:

• We will finish the Photosynthesis & Respiration unit. Note pages from the complete PowerPoint can be found here: 2 slides per page in color or 6 slides per page in black & white.
  

Homework:

• Students should study for the Friday test on cells, organelles, photosynthesis & respiration.
• Do the class bio project
• The Photosynthesis Internet Activity is due on Monday and students have to fill out these sheets,
  
• Review the notes.

There will be a test on Friday, 11/20.

The current project is the first of two choices. If both are completed, it will count as extra credit. If you plan on extra credit you are required to complete this for a grade by 11/22/09. Click here to see the project.

11/13/09 Photosynthesis Internet Activity

We did a Photosynthesis Internet Activity and have to fill out sheets, for Monday.

11/12/09 Cell Organelles

Today we:

• Collected the NYS Diffusion through a membrane lab. Students will have until Thursday, 11/12 to complete the report.
• Finished our discussion on cell organelles. For an excellent source of information about cell organelles, click here. Students have a datasheet that they should make sure is complete to hand in on Monday, 11/16.

11/09/09 NYS Diffusion through a membrane lab

Test Makeup

There is a makeup test available for the test we took on 11/5. To sign up you need to log onto the castlelearning.com website. Students may go there to review for tests and as study guides. Students will have to log in with "averillpark.studentid" where studentid is their id number in 9 digit format, with leading zeros, if needed. The first time students log in they will be prompted to set up a password. Follow the instructions to enter a password.

You have until Thursday 11/12 to complete the makeup test. If you get an 80% or higher, on the combined two parts, I will average the makeup and your original test for a grade. If you do not get at least 80% your original test score will stand.

11/4/09 Explore Castlelearning

Test: There will be a unit test on Thursday, 11/5. The focus of the teat will be on material from the Atoms to Cells and Activity in the Cell units. Click these links to download the notes and review questions.

I have set up classes for the castlelearning.com website. Students may go there to review for tests and as study guides.
