1/15/09 Simulation of an infectious disease lab & finish excretion notes

Yellow - Midterm coming on January 27 @ 8AM Rm 148
Today in class we:
· Finished the Excretory system and water balance unit.
· Did a lab on the simulation of an infectious disease.
· Began the notes on the immune system.
Coming up:
· Quiz on excretory system Friday.
Homework:
· Review the notes.
· Study for the test.
· Continue work on Excretion & water balance worksheet packet, due Tomorrow, Friday, 1/16.
· Start work on the Immune system worksheets.

Red Midterm coming on January 27 @ 8AM Rm 149
Today in class we:
· Returned and reviewed the unit test.
Coming up:
· Continue the discussion of the Immune system.
· We will do a lab simulation of the spread of an infectious disease. We discussed nephron structure and function. We discussed the different structures of the urinary system. We talked about how the kidneys filter, reabsorb and then secrete materials between the blood and nephron to concentrate the urine. We reviewed osmosis and how it is useful in the kidneys. We discussed how the kidneys function to maintain concentrations in body fluids and help control blood pressure. We discussed homeostatic disorders related to the excretory system.
Homework:
· Review the notes.
· Continue work on Excretion & water balance worksheet packet, due Tomorrow, Friday, 1/16.
· Start work on the Immune system worksheets.
