1/8/10 Nervous & Endocrine

Tests coming up:

• Unit test on nervous and endocrine systems on Friday 1/15.
• Midterm test at 8 AM on Tuesday 1/26
  

Students need to complete the two projects we started last week.
The endocrine project is to familiarize yourselves with the endocrine system (fore more info look here). You will do this by answering the question in the first part of this webquest. You will have to create a document that you answer the questions and submit via email to aphsbio at gmail.com. To do this copy the questions and insert them into a Word document. Then insert your answers and submit. Please format the email subject line (title must include EndocrineWQ) and your document title correctly, as explained in the handout. If you work with a partner be sure to include their name and send them a copy of the email that you submit to me by inserting their name in the cc line.

The WebQuest about the Nervous System is here. Click on the link and you will download a copy of a document. This is the document that you will have to add your answers to and submit via email to aphsbio at gmail.com. Please format the email subject line and your document title correctly, as explained in the handout. Students have until Fri 1/8 to complete this project.

Notes for the current unit, Nervous and Hormonal Systems, are available in several formats:

• 2 slides per page in color, large format for viewing
• 6 slides per page in black & white, for economical printing
• 3 slides per page in black & white with room for notes on one side.
• The entire PowerPoint presentation with media included and a viewer in compressed (approx 79 MB) format.
• Link to a textbook for the current unit (approx 7.5 MB)that follows the course presented in class.
• Worksheets for the Nervous and Hormonal Regulation unit. This worksheet must be completed for Jan 5, 2010.
  

Homework:

• Review the notes.
• Continue to enter data for the long term data collection project.
• Make sure that you complete the two web projects that are outlined above.
  

The current project is the first of two choices. Remember that you need to do either this or the next project. If you do both projects one will count for extra credit. If you do not do this project you must do the next. Click here to see the project.
