Yellow - Midterm coming on January 27 @ 8AM
Today in class we:
· The lab report on Innate vs learned Behavior was collected.
· Continued the discussion of the Excretory system and water balance unit. We began discussing how waste products are formed; CO2, water, nitrogenous wastes and mineral salts. We continued with the excretory function of the lungs, skin, liver and large intestine. Then we began discussion of the urinary system, beginning with the gross structure of the kidneys and proceeding to details of nephron function. We finished with Slide #27, the nephron.
Coming up:
· Any questions on the Nervous and Endocrine unit.
· Continue with the Excretory system and water balance.
· Unit test on nervous & endocrine system the week of 1/12/09. Currently scheduled for Tuesday.
Homework:
· Review the notes.
· Study for the test.
· Continue work on Excretion & water balance worksheet packet, due Friday, 1/16.

Today in class we:

· Continued the discussion of the Excretory system and water balance unit. We began discussing nephron function. We then discussed how the urine collects in the ureters and passes to the bladder. Then the urine is passed out of the body via the urethra. We discussed the processing steps of filtration, reabsorbtion and secretion. We discussed how the kidneys aid in balancing the fluid composition of the body and how blood pressure and pH are regulated. We went on to homeostatic disorders and discussed nephritis and kidney stones. We finished with Slide #48, kidney stones.
Coming up:

· Finish withthe Excretory system and water balance.
· Unit test on nervous & endocrine system the week of 1/12/09. Monday or Tuesday, whichever day is the full block. Currently scheduled for Tuesday.
